Local Fianna Fail TD, Frank O’Rourke, has welcomed the decision by Kildare CoCo to grant planning permission for a new school building for St. Patrick’s National School, in Clane.

‘The new school which comprises 24 classrooms and ancillary accommodation, will be a welcome addition to the Educational Infrastructure in Clane, coming after the completion of a new national school for Scoil Bhride in Clane, the Girls school. I understand from the Department of Education that the design team is completing its design work, and tender documents are shortly to be submitted to the Department.’

‘Great credit is due to all concerned, including the outgoing Principal, Pat Costello, the Board of Management of the school and the parents who met me about this project a number of months ago. I also want to acknowledge the work of my current Dail colleagues and former TDs for the area, Emmet Stagg, the late Michael Fitzpatrick, Aine Brady and Anthony Lawlor.’

‘I do appreciate that it took a long time to get to this stage, however, the end is now in sight,  and I will continue to make representations to have this project brought to construction phase as soon as possible’ concluded Deputy O’Rourke.
