The success of last year’s Celbridge Christmas cards, designed by Breda Konstaine meant that we had to embrace the opportunity to raise much needed funds for the Tidy Towns and produce the Christmas cards again this year. I gladly sponsored the initiative again this year and thankfully over 1,900 euro was raised from the cards sold by Breda this year. This is an excellent way of fundraising in the community and all money raised will be used in Celbridge through the wonderful work of the Tidy Towns which had great success in this years competition winning Bronze. Congratulations to all involved and many thanks to those who purchased these local Christmas cards.

30 nov 1Cllr Frank O’Rourke with the Celbridge Business Association Committee and with the Calendar sub Committee which worked on the 2014 Celbridge Calendar. “The calendar displays lovely images from around Celbridge while giving a free mention to all Business’s which are members of the Association. There will be 3,000 of the Calendars  for distribution through the different Business’s. Last year was the very first time for this initiative and it worked really well and was received by the public so positively that we have done it again for 2014 and I would imagine it is now here to stay and will be an annual thing. I want to thank my sub Committee colleagues Tom Travers and Gabriel Conway and also the twelve business’s which were main sponsors for the calendar. Thanks to all those for the photos”.

BASE in Celbridge Open

nov18

Cllr Frank O’Rourke with McKenna’s at their premises in Celbridge called the “BASE” which will be opening soon. This is great news for Celbridge as it will provide 50 jobs between permanent and part time positions once opened. It also provided up to 70 jobs during construction. This facility is one to be checked out with entertainment for all. I have worked with the McKenna’s on this and other projects and they are to be complimented for this initiative.

In conjunction with parents associations from all eight schools in Celbridge, I organised a meeting to promote anti bullying, an issue very close to all parent’s hearts. It was held on November 12th at 7.30pm in Scoil Na Mainistreach. I organised this through the national parents council at the request of parents in an effort to assist them on this very important issue.

Straffan and Ardclough schools were also invited.

Celbridge Christmas Card - The Perfect card for loved ones abroad!

Following on from the success of last year card, a new Celbridge Christmas card
depicting a beautiful snow scene of Castletown Avenue is now available in Walsh’s Pharmacy, Celbridge Jewellers, Absolutely Fabulous Flowers and in Supervalu.

The card will raise funds for local projects organised by the Celbridge Tidy Towns .This is a lovely and practical way to promote the town and it will stir happy memories for those who won’t make it home to Celbridge this Christmas – home thoughts from abroad. Cards costs €1. Orders can be texted to committee member Breda Konstantin at 087 963 0719, who asks that people might consider this card when purchasing this year’s Christmas cards.

The sales of last year’s Christmas card resulted in a community noticeboard now used by many, and also ensured a lovely floral display on the bridge in Celbridge this summer. It is hoped that the community will continue to support the card initiative. It is a very effective way to finance local projects and promotes our lovely town, in a very positive way.

Celbridge cards are printed by Alan McCourt “Impression Print” and the Photographer is Gordon Adamson, Celbridge Camera Club.
