I was delighted as Deputy Mayor of Kildare to attend the launch of the Intel sponsored garden at the Mill in Celbridge. This is a brilliant project and well done to all involved in deliverying it. It is a wonderful example of partnership with Intel, The Mill and C.E Scheme all playing a very important role.

This is now a facility that can be enjoyed by all and compliments the Mill which is truly a great facility for Celbridge and the surrounding area. Mairead Byrne and her team do a superb job in the running of the Mill. Well done again to all.!!!!!!

Two Landscaping Designs Underway for Celbridge

IMG_0070 (2)

There are two landscaping designs underway for Celbridge at present. The areas which the designs are been done for is the “Slip” which is the location for Casual Trading and the area beside the footbridge close to the Mill. Both of these locations are a major attraction in Celbridge and the designs will work to expose all that is positive which will further enhance both locations.

Once these designs are complete I will be working with the Celbridge Tidy Towns and Kildare County Council with a view to having at least one of these locations included for completion in the 2015 works programme. The designs are been co-funded by the Tidy Towns and K.C.C.

Pole

It is now a reality for Celbridge Main Street after 20 years. The Eircom poles are been removed and the cables are gone under in phase 1 of the under-grounding in Celbridge. This is great to see for all in our community and village. Thank you to the Celbridge Tidy Towns, Kildare Co Council and Eircom in helping me make this long overdue project for Celbridge a reality. It is wonderful to see the poles and cables been taken away at last. I am already planning phase 2.

New Surfacing on Aghards Road & Ramps

AghardsRoadworks

I am delighted to see the Aghards road and ramps resurfaced, this is an issue I have raised for some time as the surfacing had deteriorated very badly in areas. This road links the Maynooth road with the Shackelton road in Celbridge and services 900 houses, a school of 700 pupils (approx) and 8 business’s.

This resurfacing works will provide the highest of standards for all those who use this road. It is great to see this continued investment and I am committed to attracting further money for upgrades and improvements as required and where necessary. I wish to thank K.C.C area office for having this project completed.

I am delighted after all my work and effort to see phase one of the Eircom cables going underground and the removal of the poles. This will have a very positive impact on the street scape and will greatly enhance our historic village. This is a project that is long overdue and it is fantastic to see it started. I want to thank the Celbridge Tidy Towns for their help and support on this project together with the Management of Kildare County Council, Eircom and the Area office staff. I am currently working on delivering the funding for phase two of this project. This is a great news story for Celbridge!!!!

The 2014 Celbridge Street Fest was a fantastic day and enjoyed by thousands. The Fest went really well and was assisted by the fabulous sun shine. We had something for everyone and the feed back from the public has been great.

I want to thank a brilliant Committee for working with me to organise this great family day out. Special thanks to the Celbridge people for supporting the Fest and to all those that helped out in any way. The Street Fest would not be possible without your help and assistance.

Celbridge Grotto upgrade Complete

14

“I am delighted to see the refurbishment of the Grotto complete. This is a place of religious significance and importance to the people of Celbridge and the surrounding area.I was contacted by the Tidy Towns and many Celbridge Residents some time ago to see if funding could be allocated to have the Grotto done up and refurbished.

Following my ongoing work and representations funding was allocated for the Grotto. The refurbishment was overdue, not alone due to the significance of this location but also as the Grotto is on one of the main approach roads into Celbridge. The Tidy Towns have done great work in maintaining the Grotto to the highest of standards. Given the excellent work and success of the Tidy Towns in winning a Bronze medal last year in the Tidy Towns competition it is important that we do everything we can to assist them in their work by having the necessary improvements carried out which will help them build on last years results. It is important that we continue working to deliver further investment and improvements for Celbridge, which I am committed to doing.

I want to thank Joe Boland for making this project a reality and Simon Wallace for overseeing it on behalf of Kildare County Council”.

The Main Street will be closed during these times. There is a host of activities, amusements, stalls etc that will be participating on the day which means something for everyone. I hope the people of Celbridge come out and enjoy the day and support it like they have done with so many previous events. It will be even bigger and better than last year if that is possible!!!!! Thank you to all that assisted in any way to organise this years Street Fest. See our facebook page (www.facebook.com/Celbridgestreetfest) for full details on the Fest. This is a great event for a brilliant town and Community.

Feasibility Study under way for Celbridge Liffey Bridge

_MG_2221

I welcome Kildare County Council’s appointment of RPS consultants to carry out the feasibility study on the Liffey Bridge and associated junction in Celbridge. The congestion on and around the bridge has been an issue for many years now and a solution is long overdue. I have worked with the Tidy Towns on highlighting the issues at this location since becoming a Councillor. The ultimate solution would be a new bridge but given the time and money involved, a new bridge could be some time away.

In the meantime there is a deliverable solution and this proposal was put together by the Tidy Towns which I presented to K.C.C two years ago and has assisted in funding been provided for this study. The solution is to remove the current footpath of the bridge, install boardwalks on the bridge linking in with the current zebra crossing, straightening the parapet walls and installing lantern lights on them. This proposal is deliverable over a two year period at a cost that can be afforded. It will improve safety and traffic movement while giving a very nice appearance at the town entrance. There is an opportunity now to deliver long over due improvements at this location in Celbridge. It may not be the perfect solution but it will improve the current situation for Residents, Business and all road users.
