New Road Markings Have Been Installed

IMG_1400 (Small)

I am delighted to see the new road markings been installed by the Council in Celbridge and the surrounding area. I made representations on behalf of the public which gave me these requests. These road markings are of necessity and will assist in safety for all road users.

It is great to see this work been carried out and I want to thank the public for bringing these issues to my attention and the Council for their assistance.

New Celbridge Community School Update from KWETB

kansai-university-84363_640

I have received a further update this week from KWETB in relation to the New Celbridge Community School accommodation for September.

The Students starting in September will be accommodated within the new school extension of North Kildare Educate Together. This is very welcome for the Students and their Parents.  I’d like to thank all involved in making this happen, while they wait for their new temporary campus at Mooretown.

KWETB also reconfirmed to me that their plan is still to have the campus at Mooretown open by November/December 2015. This of course is subject to the planning permission been granted and there been no issues during the process.

I am committed and will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure the flooding issue is resolved permanently so that the planning can be resubmitted as soon as possible for the new permanent school on the Hazelhatch Road site.

Celbridge Street Fest 2015

street fest tegan (Small)

The Celbridge Street Fest will take place on Bank Holiday Monday August 3rd. The Main Street will be closed from 2pm to 9pm. This is the third year for the Street Fest and it has now become an annual event. It has been a brilliant success for the last two years and this is thanks to Mick Lothian and the brilliant committee working with me. The support we get from the public in coming out on the day is fantastic. We have received great support from the many volunteers, Garda, Kildare County Council, Civil Defence, Business’s, Parish Office, Ambulance Services and many more.

There is a great day’s family fun and entertainment planned with something for everyone. The activities, stalls, amusements etc. will be even greater and more than before. The main stage will display all the fantastic talent there is and we will have Keith Shanley as MC on the day.

The feed back from previous Street Fests have been great and we have taken all that on board when organising the current Street Fest. We hope you all come along on the day and enjoy another Celbridge great event. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us like last year……………!!!!

Thanks to you All for your great support to date and let’s have a another brilliant Street Fest.

Irish Water Descends into Farce

12758497_s

The EU’s statistics agency Eurostat announced today that the financial model for the beleaguered State water utility failed to meet key EU rules. As the Government continues to spend hundreds of millions of euro on water meters, consultants’ fees, billing and other set-up costs for Irish Water, the EU is saying that bills for distressed households are not high enough in effect. Irish Water has been, and continues to be, a complete waste of money.

Fianna Fail is committed to dismantling this bloated entity that has no prospect of securing the confidence or support of the Irish public.  The Fine Gael Labour coalition Government needs to recognise the extent of its failures with Irish Water.  It is simply not credible to do otherwise.

Fianna Fáil General Election candidate for Kildare North Cllr Frank O’Rourke has strongly criticised the Government for targeting Pensioners for medical card cutbacks over the last year.

Cllr O’Rourke made the comments after receiving information which shows the Government removed 16,356 medical cards from pensioners between April 2014 and April 2015. Over 400 medical cards were removed from the pensioners in Kildare alone.   Continue reading

Eircom Undergrounding Complete in Celbridge

IMG_0058 (2) (Small)

Celbridge Main Street has finally seen all the Eircom cables under-grounded and the poles removed from the Castletown Gates to the Grotto. This project has been a long time coming for Celbridge.

The Celbridge Tidy Towns who worked with me on delivering this project has been looking to have this work carried out for over 20 years. The removal of the Eircom poles and wires have been highlighted on the Tidy Town’s report for many years now. It is fantastic to see this project complete and it has a brilliant positive impact on the Street scape.

The feed back and response from the public, businesses and the community in Celbridge is brilliant. This completed project compliments and enhances the wonderful work carried out by the Tidy Towns. I have campaigned to have all other unnecessary signs removed, new signs and poles installed and painted.

Working with the Tidy Towns we have also got new benches installed. The Main Street from the Castletown Gates to the Grotto looks amazing.

This was a project that I was committed too and is now delivered.

I want to thank the Tidy Towns, Kildare County Council Management & Staff together with Eircom for working with me on the delivery and completion of this project.
